This is a full size pin-tail duck decoy by Traditional American Carving wood stamped on the base along with the artist Leo Koppy of Huntington Beach, CA. No sharpy autograph as in other Koppy decoys. It seems that Leo Koppy made wood carvings for Disney Studios before going into business for himself in the late 1970's. He died at age 50, murdered by his neighbor in July of 1989. Because this one does not have his autograph it may be dated as post-1989 but still part of his inventory and marketed by "Traditional American Carvings" (speculation). Koppy carved a number of animals but mainly duck decoys; a noted carver with a compelling history. This one shows relief carving of the feathers which separates Koppy from other carvers. It is clean but with some damage to the tail that is missing.
