Identical to Preble W-117, but perhaps an unlisted size (this one is smaller). Pioneer Saloon / Leadville, / Colo. Purple glass, pocket coffin flask, 5 7/8", wiped top. Scrollwork lettering. Bubbles, haziness, chip on lip. Very rare. Please inspect. The Pioneer Saloon was located on Chestnut Street. In 1879, it was the site of a murder between John W. Elkins, a black man, and Charles Hines, a white man. Elkins stabbed and mortally wounded Hines.
