15.1 grams of placer gold from the Chestatee River from the Al Adams collection. All fine native gold. The Chestatee River cuts the lower (southern) portion of Dahlonega, and is the river that was the divide between the Cherokee land to the north, and the settlers land to the south that head the Calhoun mine. Calhoun led the effort to eradicate the Native Americans from the northern side, which resulted in the "trail of tears" in 1832. The Pigeon Roost mine is just north of the Calhoun, and on the north (Cherokee) side of the river. HWAC# 61628
