Kansas territory, Park county, Platte District. E. F. Hooker is the owner of one mining claim, No. 63, SE from discovery, as appears of record in book D, page 5 of records , in the office of the recorder of said district. Signed by J. H. Shields, Recorder, Joseph M. Brackett, President. Writing is very faint, difficult to read. November 30, 1859, The Capital Hydraulic Company was organized as a ditch / canal building enterprise to supply water to the growing settlements near Cherry Creek. The company planned a ten-mile ditch to carry water from the South Platte "for mechanical, agricultural, mining and other purposes." During the early 1860's; the era of silver mining began. E. F.
