This lot of projectile points is from Colorado; eighteen points in all. All points are between 1. in/ 25 mm to 1.5 in./ 38 mm with the exception of the lanceolate which is at 5 in./ 127 mm. The lanceolate is either a Lerma point extending into Colorado or more likely an Angosuta West point with beveled left edges. The technique of beveling an edge, in this case the left edge, was an early human attempt to have the projectile rotate in flight to improve stability. (Much in the same way that a bullet leaves a barrel with rifling.) A spectacular piece with a noticeable bevel trapezoid shaped lanceolate. (ref. American Antiquity, Vol. 77, No. 4 (October 2012), pp. 774-788, 15 pages, Published By: Cambridge University Press). From the Bracken collection. Please see photos for details.
