Second edition. 216 pages. The Gazette Printing Co., Colorado Springs, Colo. 1888. By James Mac Carthy. Many of the "portraits" were originally prepared for the Sunday issue of the Daily Gazette of Colorado Springs, beginning in March 1897. The author states that he wanted these to be "a vehicle for conveying to the public some thoughts on the relation of classes and creed to government, and on the influences that shape the public life of the state, which uttered alone in the form of essays would not have commanded attention. 22 portraits." Softcover with large portion of back cover missing. Great biographical reference! 7.5" x 5.5"
