Rare token as seen in Volume One of the Nevada Bottle Book. Pollard & Oneill / Las Vegas, / Nev. // GF / 5c / IT. Round, brass. This token was used for the bar at the Overland Hotel in Las Vegas, c. 1910. Merit Pollard leased the bar in 1909 with partner Thomas O'Neill. The two also ran a saloon at Hackberry Springs at this time. O'Neill was a well-known eastern Nevada saloon operator and gambler. Pollard bought out O'Neill's interest in 1911. Pollard was convicted of "illegal gambling" in 1916 for taking a rake to pay for the gambler's food and drink. Prominent Las Vegas men came to his defense and he was pardoned.
