Portland and Seattle Railway Company stock certificate, issued on August 24th, 1905, to S.B. Linthicum. The railway company was incorporated on Aug. 22, 1905, two days before this stock certificate was issued. The first board of trustees was composed of five men, according to the Pacific Northwest Quarterly, Volume 14, including S. B. Linthicum of Portland. The articles of incorporation took power to build a railroad from Seattle to Portland and from Portland to Spokane. But, "...the nature of the enterprise and the interests involved remained secret until September 26th, 1905, when Mr. C.M. Levey, Third Vice President of the Northern Pacific, was made a Trustee in the place of Mr. Linthicum..." With vignette, and not canceled.
