Two 19 mm brass tokens from 1909 and 1913 Portola Festivals. The 1909 piece has a ballerina reverse, and the 1913 piece has a dancing bear. Both are holed. The San Francisco Portola Festival was held October 19 - 23, 1909. It honored Don Gaspar de Portola, the discoverer of San Francisco Bay. It was also a celebration of a city which, just three years earlier, lay in ruins. The festival ran each subsequent year until 1913.
