1) "Denver 1892" engraved on back of handle, back of bowl "Winters," nice die struck handle two miners. We believe this spoon is one of the unknown Otto Mears spoons mentioned in William Strong's book "The Remarkable Railroad Passes of Otto Mears", 1988. Strong stated that four different spoons were identified, but only two are known at present and pictured in Strong's book, p29. This spoon is made by Denver jeweler Bohm, the same as the other 2 Mears spoons. The handle and top are the same high quality scene as the known Mears spoon, but the bowl is plain. Bohm marking is in the exact same spot as the known Mears spoon. weight: 33.7 grams. Fully embossed Mears spoon weight 34.7 grams. later model, 30.8 grams (see 37840) 2) Demitasse, "Mining Fair, 1898" engraved on bowl. 3) "D H S 1916" engraved on bowl.
