Post Master General Letter (Honorable Montgomery Blair) written in beginning of Civil War about the time of the Pony Express. Enemies of government are attacking the mail line (Indians and Confederates at beginning of Civil War) Mail to be sent through Iowa and Omaha instead of Missouri. This letter has a second purpose; the Federal Government paid for mail delivery, so this letter is essentially requesting funds to new locations. Montgomery Blair served in the Lincoln administration cabinet as Postmaster-General from 1861 to 1864, during the Civil War. The letter came to Nevada Territorial Governor Nye to acquire signature for petition.
