Wood sign, painted white with black lettering and a gold eagle: 14" x 54". Warm Springs is located on Rancho Agua Caliente and is so named for the springs that are located there. Warm Springs today is the southern most area of the city of Fremont. During the 1830s Nicolas Gutierrez granted the land to Fulgencio and Valentine Higuera. Their original land grant was the Agua Caliente Ranch. The water from this area was known for holding Medicinal value to the local Native American population. The Southern Pacific Railroad went through the area giving the name Warm Springs to replace Agua Caliente. In early times, there was a settlement called Harrisburgh a short distance east from the small settlement of Warm Springs. A post office opened in Harrisburgh in 1865 and changed its name to Warm Springs in 1885.
