Post Route Map of the States of California and Nevada, dated September 1907. Paper map glued to a canvas backing attached to a wooden rod at the top. Lower left corner of the map has been damaged and stabilized by the addition of brown craft paper -- some of the map is missing in that area. The map shows Post Offices in California and Nevada along with railroads in existence at that time including the Virginia and Truckee Railroad and the railways connecting the mining towns of Tonopah, Goldfield, Beatty, and Bullfrog all the way to Las Vegas, and the mining camps of Bodie and Aurora. California has been divided into north and south by a hand-drawn blue pencil line along county boundaries. This map is in fair condition but easily readable and an excellent reference for the history of these two states in the Gold Rush Era around the turn of the twentieth century.
