This notebook contains forty-one First Day of Issue covers that include a 39mm Sterling Silver medallion with a design that is thematically complementary to the stamp. These were produced by The Franklin Mint beginning in 1971 and continuing into the early 1980s. These 41 pieces are from 1971 to 1973. Each medallion contains 0.8 troy ounces of 925 Sterling Silver or approximately 0.74 troy ounces of pure silver content. The 41 covers are stored in vinyl pages, two-to-a-page, and bound in a 4-inch thick binder. This binder is covered in a leather-like material and incorrectly labeled in gold-foil embossed lettering as "Golden Replicas of United States Stamps." Perhaps the binder was repurposed from a different collection. The Sterling Silver medallions vary in condition from bright proof to slightly toned and lightly tarnished. Most are in pristine condition and appear to have never been removed from the original sealed plastic envelope. Every cover/medallion issue includes a Certificates of Authenticity and a descriptive card of similar size as the envelope. Some of the issues include the following: Cape Hatteras National Seashore, April 5, 1972 - A Decade of Space Achievement, August 2, 1971 - Peace Corps, February 11, 1972 -
Henry Ossawa Tanner, September 10, 1973 - Colonial American Silverworking, July 4, 1972 - Poet Robinson Jeffers, August 13, 1973 - Nicolaus Copernicus, April 23, 1973 This comes from the liquidation of Northwest Territorial Mint. City: State: Date: HWAC# 79566
