This lot has pottery shards from several locations; Arizona and North Dakota. A third cache of shards are unidentified. One shard is displayed in a small riker box and identified as being from near the Superstition Mountains of Phoenix, Az. This would be from the Salado culture and was a combination of Ancestral Puebloans ( previously known as Anasazi) from the Colorado Plateau region, the Mogollon, and Hohokam peoples. This piece has stratified particles that would help identify the exact area of harvesting clays for pottery. Three levels of technology are displayed in this lot. There is black on white, twined cord method, dimpled cord, and stick scribed decoration imitating the twined cord methods. From the Bracken collection. Please see photos for details.
