"The Practical Miners Guide" by John Budge, published in 1845 in London for Longman, Brown, Green, and Longmans, Paternoster-Row. Bound by Westley's & Co. in London. Complete with trigonometrical tables, dialing, shafts, tables, rules, and illustrations. Lithograph of Budge on fly page by Hullmandel & Walton. Budge's book was used for the Gold Rush, specifically for people from London bound for the Mariposa Estate purchased by John Fremont part of the Mexican Land Grant. This estate was part of the Mariposa Gold Rush Trail. Mariposa, California as founded as a mining camp. Because the gold rush was a huge success in this area, it brought in a ton of wealth for the local economy, making this town a destination today with it's historic buildings. Light foxing on pages, some pages uncut. Sun aging on spine and board, light bump damage. 1.5 inch piece of cloth cover partially detached on the spine. Overall fair condition. 9x6 inches.
