This small 1914 Ingle token is simply die struck "Union Hotel." Two examples of different denominations have been noted by Haddock. Until now, none were confirmed as Union, Nevada. US token expert Dave Schenkman has a copy of the Ingle Systems manufacturer database. He has confirmed that the Union Hotel token is indeed from Union, Nevada, an important discovery. Further, the token was issued in 1917 in four denominations, though not all are known at present. This is a significant finding. Union, a station on the Eureka and Palisade Railway, was located 24 miles south of Palisade. In the Polk 1914-1915 Directory, Union is only listed as having a Post Office, express, telegraph and shipping station. No residents were listed. Curiously, though the directory cites a Post Office, there was not an official Post Office until 1916 (through 1918). Paher notes that the Union Mines Co. built a company town in 1915. It lasted only to 1918, hence the extreme rarity of this token. "5 non-transf.", white metal City: Union State: Nevada Date: 1917
