A post office was opened here in 1849. 1) Nine years later this first cover was mailed. It is a three cent entire. Large circular postmark used as a cancel. Strong strike. Sent to Miss L Blakely of Spring Hill, Missouri. A post office called Naves Store was established here in 1838. The name was changed to Spring Hill in 1849, and the post office closed in 1901. 2) 1888. Corner cover for James R. Brown, judge of the probate court of Mercer County. Mailed December 24th with a fancy Dec. 25 stamp attached. Sent to Omaha and forwarded to Avoca.
