Printed 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch cardstock invitation to a hanging: "Admit The Bearer. Assistant to the Execution of Edward Webb - May 31, 1878 at Twelve O'Clock - James Ritchie, Sheriff, Richland County, Ohio." Edward Webb was a former slave who served in the Union Army during the Civil War, was found guilty of killing a wealthy local man. A crowd estimated between 10 & 15,000 swarmed into the community to witness the hanging. A photocopy of a magazine article about the hanging is included.[ Mansfield Ohio
