Silver Demorest Memorial Prohibition Prize Medals in original cases. Hinged cases are 2 1/2 x 3 inches. Created by W. Jennings Demorest (1822-1895) in 1886 to encourage young people to recite speeches of temperance movement leaders. Medals of silver, gold and diamond were presented through the early years of the 20th century.
