22 pp. Green softcover. Dated December 1879. The offering of $2,00,000 for 200,000 shares at $10.0 per. Describes the history and potential of one of the greatest gold producers of California’s God Rush. The review of the early operations including the all the surrounding mines including the earliest in the area, the “Consolidated Amador” developed by Alvinza Hayward of Comstock fame. The surrounding mines are detailed along with testimony from two of the great mining engineers of the time, William Ashburner and Louis Janin, the latter of Comstock fame. William Ashburner was born in Stockbridge, Massachusetts and was educated in Europe as a mining engineer. He did most of his work in California during the Gold Rush. He was a member of the California Geological Survey in the 1860s. In 1863, Frederick Law Olmsted took up the post as manager of the Mariposa gold mine. He employed Ashburner at the mine on the recommendation of Josiah Dwight Whitney, the California state geologist. Olmsted became a close friend. Ashburner lived in San Francisco and became a professor of mining and regent of the University of California and a trustee of Stanford University.
