In the 1890’s the Chicago Arms Co. contracted with the Ames Sword Co.(The Largest American Manufacturer of military swords) in Chicopee Falls, Mass., to make 12800 of these pistols. This .32 caliber blackpowder cartridge seven shot pistol fires a short rimfire round. The circular shape allows concealment within the palm of the hand. The trigger cocks ,revolves and fires in one action. The squeezer type action works well with the rotary chamber. The finish was nickel plated. Hard rubber grips were standard. Side plate markings show; “CHICAGO FIREARM CO.CHICAGO” and “THE PROTECTOR”, with patent dates of “MCH 6. 83. AUG29.93” overall length is 5” with 1 ½ “ rifled barrel. It weighs 12 ounces.
