Rare SF stock exchange stock certificate. Inc. July 1885. No. 33, issued for one share to WJ Houston on Aug. 10th, 1885 in San Francisco. Signed by president Henry de Veuve and secretary A. McGrew. Not cancelled. Black border and print, fancy logo with cattle head popping out of one side, and a bear head on the other. Printed by HS Crocker. 6 x 9.75" Folds, heavy toning, rip and piece missing on left side. According to an August 6th, 1885 Daily Alta California article, the company was leasing the old SF Stock Exchange room at 411 1/2 California Street. The purpose of the company was "to furnish to the public cheaper and better facilities for buying or selling grain and all kinds of produce ; also, in the purchase and selling of mining stocks, railroad stocks, bonds, etc." State: California City: San Francisco Date: 1885
