Cert. #567, issued at Chicago, Illinois in 1869 and signed by Geo. M. Pullman as president.Issued for 100 shares to Isaac Livermore. The Pullman Car Company, founded by George Pullman, was a manufacturer of railroad cars in the mid-to-late 19th century through the first half of the 20th century, during the boom of railroads in the United States. Through rapid late nineteenth century development of mass production, and takeover of rivals, the company developed a virtual monopoly on production and ownership of sleeper cars. George Pullman developed the sleeper car and it was widely used into the 1980's. Pullman's signature and the secretary's signature have hole punch cancels through them. There was a 2" slit at the top left which has been expertly repaired archivally on the verso. Also, a rough bottom edge (view photos).
