Two letters with covers addressed to Purser Edward Hull. The first, dated June 20, 1857 addresses Hull as Purser of the USMSS Illinois, one of the US Mail Steamship Company's Atlantic domestic steamers. The letter is written by A. A. Belknap, the purser for the US Mail Steam Frigate Merrimac. Part of the letter offers to meet in New York at 174 (?) and the corner of Bond street. The letter mentions a Lt. Ghirardi, of which I can find nothing. The second letter is dated July 17, 1857 and mentions a chair. Both documents and covers conserved by the Northeast Document Conservation Service in Andover, Mass.
