Lot includes five quartz crystal specimens. Crystals are individual. 1) large prismatic crystal (approx. 2.75x1.25x1"), showing split growth twinning, Dauphine and tabular habit (rare), very large x-face (1), crystal at top transitioning to milky at base, slight iron staining but slight citrine in appearance, part of daughter crystal present on one facet, with dissolution texture on negative imprint facet, stepped striations, iridescence patch; 2) large (2.5x1.5x1.25") prismatic crystal, rhombohedral, 2 x-faces, light citrine appearance, iridescence patches, milky at base, few daughter crystals and sprouts, has large (1.5x0.75") 5-facet negative imprint showing striations, tiny chip at top facet; 3) beautiful prismatic crystal intergrowth cluster of tabular crystals (approx. 2.75x2x3.5"), very minor iron staining, clear transitioning to milky at base. This is a beautiful specimen of tabular intergrowth; 4) beautiful prismatic crystal cluster (approx. 2.25x1.75x1.75"), minor iron staining, clear and milky crystals, rhombohedral and tabular habits. This is a unique example of multiple crystal habits in one specimen; 5) very large prismatic needle crystal cluster (10.5x6.5x3.5") on host rock, displaying both trigonal and Dauphine habits, with clear, slight citrine appearance to crystals, slight iron staining, milky at base, split and intergrowth crystals sprouts, nearly radial, with few iridescence patches. This is an excellent specimen needle growth ('needle' quartz is grown quickly at relatively low temperatures, with quick growth caused by quickly falling temperatures and/or pressures, indicating a tectonically active environment or rising brines that cooled quickly. Natural growth lines evident on all facets. Chunlin Collection.
