Quartz is silicon dioxide and one of the most abundant natural minerals in the earth's crust. With a fairly low melting point, it is one of the last minerals to crystalize from a molten material, and what a tremendous variety of colors and forms it can take, but most commonly in hexagonal pointed crystals.
