The Tonglushan Mine is a large, skarn-type Iron and Copper deposit, occurring in the northern end of the Majiao-Tonglushan anticline. From a mineralogical point of view, Daye County is the home of a 3000 year old bronze culture. The area has many active and inactive copper-iron mines. On the edge of the big Tonglushan open pit copper mine is the Tonglushan Archaeological Mining Museum with 2000 meters of ancient mine workings exposed inside the museum building. The Tonglushan Mine has, also, been a prolific mineral specimen producer for some time. This attractive specimen of amethyst-colored quartz features large, well-formed crystals of amethyst which have been partially overgrown with white calcite and dolomite crystals. A very handsome mineral specimen suitable for decorating any office or home. Dimensions (cm): 9 H x 14 W x 13.5 D.
