An exceptional mineral specimen from the world-famous mineral collection of Uli and Anka Bahmann of Johannesburg, South Africa. The Bahmann's built a very large and high quality collection of minerals from Southern Africa. Additionally, Uli had an affinity for quartz specimens. Among his most memorable quartz specimens was this extremely aesthetic and interesting quartz specimen from the Ganesh Himal area of Nepal. Ganesh Himal is a sub-range of the Himalayas located mostly in north-central Nepal, but some peaks lie on the border with Tibet. The highest peak in the range is Yangra which measures 24,350 ft tall. Amethyst crystals were extremely rare in the quartz deposit at Ganesh Himal, in addition to the light purple, amethyst color, this specimen features a smaller quartz crystal heavily included with the mineral chlorite. Outstanding piece in excellent condition. Dimensions (cm): 13 H x 9.5 W x 7 D. Location: Ganesh Himal deposit, Somdang, Rasuwa District, Bagmati Zone, Nepal Date: Location: Nepal HWAC# 53131
