Letter/correspondence and cover handwritten by Joseph Moore, from Quasqueton, Iowa, c1856. 2 pages (8" x 10", front and back) description of building railroad tracks, the saw mill, soil, etc. Cover postmarked Quasqueton 1856, hand stamped "Paid 3" in circle. Quasqueton was an intersection of Native American trails until Euro-Americans settled there in 1842 and a post office was opened in 1845. Most of Quasqueton was destroyed in a fire in 1904.
