Sovereign Jubilee-Collection set No. 468.
An elegant glossy finished wooden case houses this case of the five different portraits of Queen Elizabeth that appeared on gold sovereigns. The five brilliant uncirculated coins are dated: 1958; 1978; 1986; 2007 & 2020. Each a different portrait of the monarch. With original brochure detailing the coin designers and Elizabeth's family tree. The five periods of Elizabeth's sovereigns: 1952-1964: Mary Gillick’s first-generation portrait of Queen Elizabeth II debuted on Gold Sovereigns. This portrait captures a young Elizabeth II with a laurel crown.
1965-1984: Arnold Machin’s second-generation portrait of Elizabeth II stands as one of the longest-running portraits and shows the Queen with the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara.
1985-1997: Raphael Maklouf’s third-generation effigy of Elizabeth II graces the coins. Considered by some to be flatteringly out of step with the Queen’s age, Maklouf viewed his portrait of the Queen as a symbol of timeless, regal grace.
1998-2015: Ian Rank-Broadley’s fourth-generation depiction captures the Queen wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara.
2016-2023: Elizabeth II’s final portrait was created by Jody Clark and shows the Queen at the age of 89 wearing the George IV State Diadem. The total AGW of the 5 coins is 1.177 oz. United Kingdom
