1888 R. C. Ware signed witness attachment for delivery of body, Mitchell County, TX. "Joined the Texas Rangers in 1878; First sheriff of Mitchell County, 1881-92; U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Texas, 1893-97. During a bank robbery by Sam Bass at Round Rock, Ware shot and killed Seaborn Barnes. Though history records George Harrell as the man who killed Sam Bass, several witnesses, including fellow Texas Ranger Chris Conner, claimed it was a bullet from Ware's gun that killed the notorious outlaw." 3.5x8"
