Catalog of the valuable collection of Pioneer and Territorial Gold Coins issued in California, Colorado, Utah, Oregon, the Carolinas and Georgia, 1830-1861. The collection was formed by Judge Charles W. Slack of San Francisco. The auction was held May 5, 1925, all bids by mail. R. Max Mehl of Fort Worth Texas was the largest mail order coin dealer in the country at the time. More mail was delivered to the Mehl Building than to the rest of Fort Worth combined. This 24 page catalog is 7 x 11 inches with gold color plates front and back. Cover is faded and detached, but the collection is a fabulous read for pioneer gold enthusiasts.
The 1849 Mormon $20 gold piece, lot 51, realized $475; now graded AU53 by PCGS.
