Lot of 2 different rare pictorial lettersheets for the Sierra Nevada Wood & Lumber Company, operating at Hobart Mills, CA (in Nevada County, north of Truckee). 1) 1902 letterhead to the bank in Carson City. Vignettes of factory and mill. CT Bliss listed as manager (son of DL Bliss). 2) 1927 letterhead for the Hobart Estate Company. Message to the Goldfield Deep Mines Company. Vignette of cut log. The Sierra Nevada Wood & Lumber Company was a lumber company operating initially out of Lake Tahoe. They helped supply the Comstock mines with lumber. When the mining died down, they relocated men and machinery and formed the camp north of Truckee. Initially called Overton, it was renamed Hobart Mills. Both names honor key Tahoe lumber figures.
