This Ellis Mill was patented in 1924 at San Francisco. It works much like a Huntington Mill. The Ellis Mill attempted to solve the problem of power needed to operate a mill for a small mining property. Advertised as "The success of our mill can be spelled in four words Strength, Weight, Momentum and Simplicity; and the greatest of those is simplicity..." It has no gears, no shafts, no bearings and no boxings. Weight 5,500 pounds and six feet in diameter. A fifty ton mill was only $1,000. This is a San Francisco company. [Mining & Scientific Press, 1917] Comes with the original 7" steel balls. FOB Hawthorne (At the time the catalog went to press the item was still in Hawthorne. It is our intention to get it up to Reno before the auction. Please call our office at 775-851-1859 if you wish to know the current location.)
