Lot of three checks. 1) Check issued in 1875 by Gould & Curry Silver Mining Company w/J.W. Mackay's signature in lower right corner. RN-D. Check has two tears on bottom but otherwise intact w/handwriting legible. 2) Other two checks are partial Hale & Norcross Mining Co. checks. When we see this happen, it means a stamp collector just preserved the stamp portion. Therefore, they exist as NV stamp examples (from very rare checks) with the autographs also preserved. If they were whole, they would be worth $150+ each. RN-C21b. One is signed by James Fair and dated Aug 1, 1871, while the other is signed by J.W. Mackay and dated Feb 5, 1872. John William MacKay and James Graham Fair were both Irish immigrants who became known as two of the four Bonanza Kings or Silver Kings from their Comstock Lode silver mine investments in Virginia City, Nevada in the 1870s.
