Inc. under the laws of NY. Vignette of two women 1 with scale and one with staff around a shield with sun and boats under and eagle above. 1st use of Rambler name for American-made automobile dates to 1897 when Thomas B. Jeffery of Chicago, IL and builder of the Rambler bicycle, constructed his 1st prototype automobile. Received positive reviews at the 1899 Chicago International Exhibition & Tournament and 1st National Automobile Show in NYC, Jeffery enter automobile business. In 1900, he bought the old Sterling Bicycle Co. factory in Kenosha, WI and started production. He started production s in 1902 and by year's end produced 1,500 motorcars, 1/6 of all existing in US at the time. Thomas B. Jeffery Co was 2nd largest auto manufacturer at that time.
