Lot of 3. 1-2) Corner ad cover and letterhead for W.J. Shinn, Dealer in Drugs, Medicines, Paints, Oils, Varnishes, Books, Stationery. Truckee, California, 1878. Message to Cesar Schwardman at nearby ice/lumber camp Boca. Cover is blue with 3 cent postage stamp. Very rare. 2) Truckee Wells Fargo Receipt from Curless. Very rare. Dateline Truckee, Nov. 27th, 1872. Received of Dr. Curless a package of $150 sent to Justin Gates of Sacramento. Signed by Dooly. 3.25 x 6" The Curless brothers came to Truckee in the 1860s and opened the first drug store there in 1869. George Washington Curless ran the store. His brother William was a physician and Truckee's primary doctor. Dr. Curless was on-board the ill-fated SS Central America that sank in 1857, but disembarked in New Orleans, a few days before the sinking.
