A previously unknown $5 chip from the Nevada Lodge on the north shore of Lake Tahoe. Many chips from this casino are common, but this one is not. The Nevada Lodge was owned by Lincoln Fitzgerald, who also owned the Nevada Club in Reno and was a member of the infamous Purple Gang in Detroit. The building opened in 1946 as the Tahoe Biltmore, became the Nevada Lodge in 1958 and is again the Tahoe Biltmore. This chip features the small crown mold and, although drilled, is in outstanding condition. It is magenta in color with four cream-colored inserts and undoubtedly is missing from most collections of those who specialize in Tahoe chips.
