Boston & Colorado Smelting Company. Dateline Alma, Colo., Oct. 3rd, 1874. This receipt is for four ore samples ranging in weight from 2 to 8 tons. Silver content per ton ranged from $106.25 to $48.20. Signed by agent Wolcott. Issued to S. D. Buck(?), superintendent. 5 x 10.5" Hole punches, missing two corners. Alma, located in Park County, is the highest incorporated town in America at 10,578 feet. The population boomed to 10,000 people in the 1870s. It was a gold mining camp. However, the historic Sweet Home Mine near Alma now produces spectacular rhodochrosite mineral specimens.
