Rare location! This Placer County Mine was obviously owned by the French as the mine is called "Compagnie des miens D'or du Forest Hill Divide." Below the signature of superintendent WC Ralston is "Cie, des Mines D'or du...." Written to Root Neilson Company of Sacramento. 1888. The Hogsback Mine was south of Emigrant Gap near Westville. When Ralston ran a tunnel for the Melones Mine in Calaveras County, he used the Hogsback as an example. State: California City: Hogsback HWAC#: 48403 Date: 1888
