Date: April 22nd, 1873. Hiskey & Walker. Drawn on Parker, Wattson, & Co. Pay $325 to M. Duratte. Endorsed and cancelled (@ Independence) on back. Chalfant & Parker, Printers. Condition: pinholes, light soiling, edges rough. According to Raymond 1873, Hiskey & Walker purchased the Cinderella Mine (and its mills) and were shipping their ore to Deep Springs, Esmeralda County for reduction. Raymond says he has nothing new to say about the district for his 1874 report. Lida was located 22 miles southwest of Goldfield. Lida Valley was laid out in 1872 after prospectors established a district in the valley in 1867. Mining declined in the late 1870s, and by 1880 the camp had few open businesses. When the 1905 Goldfield boom began, Lida "caught its second wind," but by 1907 the camp had again declined. The district accounted for almost $1 million in precious metals.
