Letter written on illustrated lettersheet for W.J. Rodgers, superintendent of the Nevada City school. June 24, 1896. Writing to Miss Harriet Isbister in San Juan, who he is advising to apply for a teacher position. Salary is $60 and she will have "quite a distance to go from house to school, but [she] swill be given a gentle horse to drive to a cart." Folds with separation. This letter was enclosed in an illustrated cover for the Nevada City 4th of July celebration. Electric Carnival! Fireworks! Procession! Cover torn open at right and some creases around edges.
