Lot of 2. 1) Unissued ultra-rare stock certificate, dateline San Francisco 19__. Has Comstock vignette with mines and locomotive crossing a bridge. Printed by Britton & Rey, San Francisco. 7.5 x 11.25" This is the first example we've had in 40 years. 2) Nevada Bank of San Francisco revenue check, RN-D, dateline Virginia (City), Nev., Dec. 7, 1878. Issued by Hobart & Marlette (Tahoe lumber company supplying the Comstock mines). The Nevada Bank of San Francisco was created by the Bonanza Firm (Mackay, Fair, Flood & O'Brien) and was their bank to compete against the Bank of California. The bank attained a national charter in the late 1890s.
