Large albumen print of the LeCompton Mine at Nevada City. While unlabeled, this photo is a near exact copy of the photo used in the LeCompton prospectus. The LeCompton was george Hearst's first lode mine, and when he sold it, provided him the cash to buy into the famous Ophir mine on the Comstock in 1859. It virtually launched his fortune. Circa 1900-1910. Matted, 14 x 17"
