RPPC mailed July 30th, 1908 from B to Mrs. JT Joules in Pedro, Ohio. 1908 Rawhide cancel. Card shows 13 miners posing next to ore sacks(?) with a woman standing on the hill above the mine in the background. Visible sign at upper left says "Grutt Hill Mint M. & L. Co., Shaffer Lease." Crease upper left, other light wear. According to the Los Angeles Herald of October 19, 1908: “Grutt Hill Mint lease at Rawhide has shipped ore to the value of $70,344 in four months, according to the Rawhide Rustler, which quotes G. H. Hayes of Hayes & Monnette as saying that the Mint has half a million dollars in sight.”
