Rare RPC identified on reverse as Dragon, Utah railroad depot, c.1906. Depot for the Uintah Railway. Stacks of Gilsonite (asphalt) stacked on dock next to tracks. Other wooden structures visible. Dragon, Utah is now a ghost town. It was founded in the 1880s to mine Gilsonite. The town boomed 1900-1910 and served as the end-of-line town for the Uintah Railway. In 1911, the terminus moved farther north, but Dragon survived as the largest of the Gilsonite towns. It was abandoned after its mining operations stopped in 1938 and the Uintah Railway went out of business in 1939. (Prag Collection) Date: Location: Dragon, Utah HWAC# 55446
