Obv.: drinking bear riding a camel / Al Malaikah Special 1903; Rev.: Via So. Pac. Union Pac. Ill. Cent., M.C. & N. Y. C. Lines. Bronze, 33 mm, holed. The Los Angeles Times of April 24, 1903 reported in an article "Los Angeles Shriners' Will Be Shiners" that "the local executive Committee has already engaged a special train for Al Malaikah Temple which will be the finest ever run across the continent. Seven magnificent new Pullmans of the latest style will carry about a hundred of the Los Angeles fezwearers, and in the words of Potentate Hines, 'The hospitality of the buffet car will be so free that even the oldest resident will be obliged to admit 'Never Before!' The finest cooks available in the railway service have been secured for the diner and the cuisine will probably give cards, spades and menus to the Walled-Off Castoria." The Shriners were bound for a convention at Saratoga New York.
