A set of 25 "Hitleriada Furiosa" & "Hitleriada Macabra" prints by Stanislaw Toegel, 1946, cover a/Stanislav Toegel was a lawyer, amateur artist and Polish Army reservist officer. Captured after the fall of Poland in 1939, he escaped and served with the Polish resistance until being taken prisoner once again in the aftermath of the ill-fated Warsaw uprising. Sent to a labor camp at Gottingen, Germany, he was forced to work at a paper mill where, in clandestine and at risk of instant execution, he drew the original cartoons ridiculing Hitler and his cohorts, and depicting the cruel depravity of their regime. In 1946, the cartoons were compiled and published in limited quantities by Antoni Markiewicz._x000D_
Prints measure 10"x 13" and are not for the faint of heart as they show the several atrocities meted out by Hitler's henchman. This is a rare collection that is usually found on the Internet as individual prints and not together as they are here. Please see photos for more detail and condition.
