Union is located 50 miles southwest of St. Louis, and has its origin to nearly 1800. The lt contains three issues of the Record, an early newspaper for the town, and fairly rare. Articles are of national news, with little local notes. Advertisements are for lawyers, three saloons, and the usual array of national ads. 10.22.74, 10.14.75, 11.4.75. One interesting article notes the capture and arrest of Benjamin Boyd, "the most notorious counterfeiter in the United States". they also caught a horse thief. The paper was only printed 1874-1887.
